1. What made you want to compete?
I had a serious car accident and I spent a year and a half unable to exercise. I wanted to get better and be myself again…only better. My biggest reason is that I would hope to inspire other people to dream big and to fight for their health.

2. What do you do to stay inspired?
I read a lot of personal development material and enjoy stories of people who have overcome great obstacles. I look to great people and their words of wisdom – I LOVE Ronnie Lott…inspiring….
I love helping others, and seeing people overcome their fears and insecurities to become their best selves motivates me to aspire to become more .

3. What shows have you already been in or plan to be in in the future?
The New England Fitness Weekend is my first show. It would be an honor to be a pro and have the ability to compete in Canada at The World Championship.

4. Who got you started?
Theresa Jenn Lopetrone (WBFF Pro/Team Blessed Bodies) is my pen pal and a year ago she encouraged me to compete. We have never met, but write regularly. I’m on Team Total Body Advantage and Karen and Doug are teaching me the ways of The WBFF.

5. Who do you look to for help now?
Doug Casebier and Karen Dancer of Total Body Advantage are the only coaches I have ever had. When I first contacted them I could barely walk (from the accident) and now I’m strong.

6. Where do you usually workout?
Gold’s Gym – Hanover, PA and Gold’s Gym – East Greenwich, RI

8. What are your most noticeable results?
I’m happy to be able to walk, run, and lift things like a normal person does…and more.

9. Has fitness changed your life? If so, how?
It has been a long hard road, but I’m up and moving! I thought that I would be in bed for the rest of my life – unable to enjoy things like hiking or sight seeing. I have gotten my health back. Recently I learned that I MUST live this lifestyle because I have diabetic tendencies. I really want to share the path to good health with others and inspire people in any way that I can.

10. What personal fitness goals have you set for yourself?
My goals are different than most people’s – I want to keep my blood sugar in the proper range, I need to stay mobile…so showing up and not quitting are very important.

11. Describe your diet.
I eat a protein rich diet with tons of fresh vegetables. I have to watch the starch, because of my blood sugar and of course the junk food has to be kept to a minimum.

12. What does your workout schedule look like?
I hit the weights 5-6 days per week. I also enjoy hiking.

13. What do you do for a living?
I’m totally laughing right now…I am both a Holistic Lifestyle and Nutrition Coach and I work for Utz Quality Foods – yes, I work in the snack food industry…as in potato chips and pretzels.

14. What are your personal non-fitness goals?
I intend to write motivational materials, nutrition articles, and books.

15. Have you participated in any other sports?
I’m an award winning rider in equestrian sports and I have enjoyed snow skiing in the past.

16. Here you can mention your family/thank you’s.
Thank you to my husband, Tony; my family; teammates at TBA; and Coach Doug and Karen for all of the love and support

18. What are challenges that you face that may keep you from reaching your fitness goals?
I had no muscle tone, so training for this contest has been rehab for me. My injuries flare up sometimes after I train and have put limitations on the things that I can do in the gym.

19. What obstacles have you overcome to be where you are?
I have dyspraxia – that means I am beyond uncoordinated. It affects planned movement, because brain messages aren’t transmitted properly to the body.

20. Is there anything else you would like to add that you think we’ve missed?
I met Jennifer Sammartino through this contest. She left a comment on the Facebook page, and I saw that we have the same last name, so I reached out to her. We are married to distant cousins – what a small world! I’m excited to meet all of the athletes at this awesome show!
