1. What made you want to compete?
I’ve always been an over achiever and when I started gaining weight and became obese my drive for success just slowly went away. Once I started to get into shape and feel better about myself I saw all these lovely competitors who inspired me day in and out and thought to myself I want to do that too! Initially I was going to wait another year but the New England Fitness and Fashion show is on my 30th birthday this year and I thought what better way I start off a new decade of my life than to share the stage with beautiful, strong healthy women! Also I made a New Years resolution to have a six pack by my birthday and this was a way to guarantee I wouldn’t slack off! 😉

2. What do you do to stay inspired?
I stay inspired by interacting with the family I’ve created on social media. I have a great group of people who follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and twitter who encourage and support me every day. I also of course am inspired by my family and friends who are accomplishing great things in their lives and motivate me to keep pushing towards my goals. And last but not least I’m inspired by my coach Tabitha Sierra who is not only a family oriented, beautiful spirit but also a strong competitor who exemplifies what you can achieve with hard work and dedication!

3. What shows have you already been in or plan to be in in the future?
I haven’t been in any shows as this is my first but I’m sure it won’t be my last! I plan to continue competing within the WBFF and hopefully leave my mark on the organization and the fitness world!

4. Who got you started?
It i had to say who got me started I would say I did. At over 200 lbs I realized that I couldn’t keep living the way I was. The main catalyst however was meeting my husband. He’s an amazingly smart(he speaks 10 languages fluently), funny, handsome guy and I didn’t want someone else to scoop him up away from me so decided there was no time like the present to finally get in shape so I could keep up with him. He met and fell in love with me when I was overweight and I know that he wasn’t concerned about that but I still wanted to look good and feel good not just for him but for myself. I needed to get my self confidence and self worth back and I couldn’t do that if I wasn’t taking care of myself!

5. Who do you look to for help now?
I look to my coach Tabitha Sierra, WBFF Figure Pro. I’ve been working with her for a few months and have already seen dramatic changes. I didn’t know half as much as I’ve learned about nutrition through her. She also is very motivating and inspiring and having gone through the process herself she can relate to me and the struggles I may be facing on any given day.

6. Where do you usually workout?
I workout of a Planet Fitness believe it I not. There are pros and cons of course. It’s close to my house so very convenient and it’s affordable. Unfortunately though its not necessarily geared towards the serious athlete and sometimes I find myself waiting for people to get of their cellphone to free up machines, etc. Nevertheless it works for me at the moment and I’ve made serious progress there. Once my membership is up however I think I’ll be looking for a more intimate gym geared towards what I want to do which is lift heavy and often!

7. Do you use any suppliments? If so, what ones (brands, names, etc)
I use supplements sometimes. I have two favorite brands, Prosupps and Cellucor. I love Cellucor’s line of whey protein! They have amazingly delicious flavors! And Prosupps Vanish is a product I like also. But for the most part I stick to vitamins, BCAAs, and an iron supplement because I’m anemic.

8. What are your most noticeable results?
Well since December 2011 I’ve lost 75. My highest weight being around 205 lbs and my current weight is 130. I’ve also lost 10 inches around my waist. I’m stronger now than ever before. My first road race, a 5K in March 2009 I finished in 47:30. My most recent race on September 15, 2013 I finished in 25:38. (The race before and after picture is attached) And most importantly besides physical changes I am a strong, confident, happy woman with goals and aspirations. I am driven and know that in time I will succeed in accomplishing all my goals!

9. Has fitness changed your life? If so, how?
Fitness has absolutely changed my life! I went from an overweight couch potato to an active, healthy woman. I run a road race every month, I workout 5-6 days a week. I maintain a healthy diet. I am going to become a certified personal trainer so that I can pay it forward and help others reach their fitness goals! I’ve found what I’m passionate about and it’s honestly something I doubted I would ever find!

10. What personal fitness goals have you set for yourself?
This year my goals were to run 13 races in 2013. I am 4 races away from accomplishing that goal. I also made a goal to have a six pack by my 30th birthday and I’m on my way to achieving that as well. My long term fitness goals as I mentioned above to become a certified personal trainer! I am going to expand my brand and business and I would love to help make fitness a priority for women and children in neglected urban areas of the country. It’s clear that there are people out there who need and want helping changing their life around and they just need that extra push. I want to be that push so someone can say they tried a little harder because of what I accomplished.

11. Describe your diet.
Right now I’m on prep dirt so I eat chicken, turkey, fish and egg whites. Brown rice, sweet potato and oatmeal. And of course green veggies every day(kale, cauliflower,broccoli, asparagus, etc.)

12. What does your workout schedule look like?
I workout 5-6 days a week with splits varying. I train legs, back, bis, shoulders, tris and do conditioning!

13. What do you do for a living?
I am a full time waitress in Cambridge, MA! We’re located right between Harvard and MIT so I get to see the future leaders of our country partying every weekend!

14. What are your personal non-fitness goals?
I’d love to buy a house with my husband, travel with him, eventually settle down and start a family. I also love sports and want to go to the Super Bowl at least once in my life. The summer Olympics as well!

15. Have you participated in any other sports?
I tried out for the girls basketball team in jr. high and couldn’t make a layup so hat was the end of that!

16. Here you can mention your family/thank you’s.
I want to thank God for giving me the strength and will to overcome some of my struggles in life to get to this point. I must thank my loving, supportive husband who deals with my measuring food and crazy gym hours and falling asleep early some nights because I’m tuckered out! Thanks for never complaining and always telling me how proud you are of me. Thank you to my coach Tabitha Sierra for helping me push past my limits and realizing what my body is capable of! To my Mom and Dad, family and friends who’ve had to listen to me talk about all the food I want to eat! I appreciate it and thank you for telling me I can do and be whoever I want to.

17. Do you have any hobbies?
I’m a singer and love going to karaoke! Also I’m a professional shopper so I try to avoid my trigger stores like H&M, TJMaxx and DSW. Besides that I just enjoy watching football and taking walks in my neighborhood!

18. What are challenges that you face that may keep you from reaching your fitness goals?
Right now my man. challenge is overcoming the exhaustion that sometimes comes over me! I take it day by day though and get as much rest as I can!

19. What obstacles have you overcome to be where you are?
One major obstacle was my own self doubt. I truly felt like I was in a hole I’d never escape. I was overweight, unhealthy and had no energy! It want until the pounds slowly started coming off did I start to believe in myself and have the confidence it takes to want to step on stage and compete with all these beautiful strong women.
