1. What made you want to compete?
I love the look of fitness models, and always have; internally, I toyed with the idea of competing for years because I did not feel I was physically ready to make the commitment. I was approached several times by a trainer who I finally convinced me I was physically ready. That is when I began setting goals and benchmarks in preparation to get on stage. As I researched which competitive organization was best aligned with my fitness goals, I adjusted my diet and my workouts to prepare. Shortly thereafter, I was pleasantly surprised by the news of my pregnancy! So my fitness goals had to be put on hold while I prepared for a different chapter in my life.

Now, four years later, my son is almost three, my husband’s travel within the military has slowed (for now) and I felt it was finally time to do something for me! In April/May I became a Fitness Model for a web based fitness education site. This gave me the motivation and confidence I needed to take my fitness regimen to the next level. I looked into the different organizations to compete with and spoke with WBFF Pro Kelly Lockyer. I picked her brain on a million different occasions and decided that the The WBFF was where I wanted to be. My husband found that The WBFF Boston show was taking place the following weekend so he proposed a road trip. The Boston 2013 show was all I needed to seal the deal….I was going to compete in the WBFF within the year.

2. What do you do to stay inspired?
Fitness Magazines and Facebook have also kept me inspired. There are so many beautiful women out there who work hard and keep going hard. It is almost impossible to give up with so many people to look up to who are working towards the same goal you are! My own personal gains and progression pictures keep me in check too. I have come a long way since July 8th!

3. What shows have you already been in or plan to be in in the future?
None, this will be my first show!

4. Who got you started?
My husband competed for years and has always inspired me to be my own personal best. My brother has also contributed to my confidence with his support and keeping my fitness/weight lifting routines fresh and challenging. He and his wife, initially got me in contact with WBFF Pro Kelly Lockyer and in touch with the organization where I began Fitness Modeling. After my conversations with Kelly and seeing the Boston show live, it was full steam ahead for me.

5. Who do you look to for help now?
My husband is my rock but I am also blessed with an amazing support system of friends and family, who keep me on track and focused. Anyone who has gone through this process or know someone who has, knows how instrumental a strong support system is. I wouldn’t be where I am right now without my trainer/coach/nutritionist! I have also had the pleasure of working directly with WBFF Pros Lori-Ann Marchese and Madalena DosSantos on my walking and posing.

6. Where do you usually workout?
I work out at the Fitness Edge. I also get some cardio outdoors while chasing my little guy!

7. Do you use any suppliments? If so, what ones (brands, names, etc)
I use Glutamine, Glucosamine, BCAAs, Whey Isolate Protein, Fish & Flax Oils, and a multi-vitamin

8. What are your most noticeable results?
My abs and my glutes have always been my weak areas, so to see gains in these areas is most noticeable and exciting to me.

9. Has fitness changed your life? If so, how?
I have almost always been fit. I am a very active person and get my mental break at the gym. It has become increasingly important over the last several years because I not only need to be healthy for me but for the other important people in my life who depend on me.

10. What personal fitness goals have you set for yourself?
My short term goal is to rock the stage on November 9th and win my Pro Card! My fitness goal for the long haul is to be my very best at every age! I committed to a lifestyle change many years ago and have not faltered. I will continue to push and challenge myself to achieve more physical gains.

11. Describe your diet.
I eat clean 6 times a day. I am a picky eater so I eat the same exact things everyday.

12. What does your workout schedule look like?
I do weights 4 days a weeks, alternating muscle groups. I also do cardio 3 times a week with one day of rest.

13. What do you do for a living?
I am a pharmaceutical sales representative.

14. What are your personal non-fitness goals?
First and foremost, is to be a great mother and wife. I also enjoy inspiring people to do their best. I can not explain the feeling I get when someone shares with me that they did something positive because of something I have done. It doesn’t necessarily have to be fitness related, it could be career oriented, or setting a goal on a personal level. I enjoy picking people up and empowering them to be better than they were before. In regards, to my career, right now my short term goal is to get promoted within my current position and once my son is a little older I would like to get into the training department within my company.

15. Have you participated in any other sports?
Yes, I have danced, played softball and basketball, and ran cross country and track growing up.

16. Here you can mention your family/thank you’s.
I would like to thank my husband Bill, for inspiring me to be better, and supporting my decision to put myself first over the last several weeks! He has helped prep my food, taken on extra responsibilities around the house and with our family, pushed me at the gym, all with a smile (most of the time) regardless of how my moods have ebbed and flowed. Thank you for being my biggest fan when I needed you the most! I would also like to thank my parents who have done more than their fair share is babysitting while I worked, traveled, and hit the gym while Bill was away. I would like to thank my friends who have also supported me through this entire process and continue to cheer me on to the end. I’d like to thank my brother, Damon, and my sister in law, Alicia, for being my #2 fans, right behind Bill, helping me not only see my goals but being instrumental in achieving them. I would like to thank Dave and Kevin for pushing me mentally and physically knowing I wouldn’t break, and that I would just push harder. I wouldn’t have the confidence to have done this without you. Thank you to all of you who believed in me when I started to doubt myself, I am and will continue to be a better person for it!

17. Do you have any hobbies?
I am very active and enjoy activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, wake boarding, water skiing, hiking and competing in obstacle course races. Living in New England does not always allow me to enjoy my hobbies/activities and that is why my passion is hitting the gym, it is truly my way of decompressing after a long day

18. What are challenges that you face that may keep you from reaching your fitness goals?
It is hard to juggle everything and be successful at everything. it is NOT impossible but definitely challenging! I work full time as a very competitive outside sales rep with a successful track record, spending a lot of time on the road. I am a full time mom to an almost three year old and twelve year stepson. I am a military spouse and this does present challenges and require sacrifice from the boys and I as well. Somehow I still manage to prep food for my daily dieting requirements, feed my family, train, clean the house, and occasionally, sleep. Being organized and being prepared is a must. I would not be able to do what I do without daily, weekly, and monthly plans!

19. What obstacles have you overcome to be where you are?
In February I injured my hip during a plyometric workout and was instructed by my physician not to work the lower half for a minimum of 3 months, preferably 6! So training during this time without injuring myself and still making physical gains has been a challenge. Lucky for me, I have learned how to tweak certain exercises to reduce the risk of injury and have been successful in doing so.
