1. What made you want to compete?
My cousin is a pro and when I wanted to get in shape she helped me lose the weight. As a celebration I did the Easter US Championships in 2012 and I fell income with the glitz, glamour, and fun of the sport.

2. What do you do to stay inspired?
I always try to look at my progress from a positive view point. It’s not the destination- it’s the journey. If you are always growing, learning, and changing, you will always find inspiration within yourself and your own journey.

3. What shows have you already been in or plan to be in in the future?
I have competed in the Eastern US Championship (2012) and Fitness Atlantic (2013). I would like to try and compete at least once a year to keep myself motive and held accountable to a healthy and active lifestyle.

4. Who got you started?
Pure curiosity! My cousin Allyson Genovese always talked about how fun it was so I decided to give it a shot. Best decision of my life!

5. Who do you look to for help now?
I look to my coaches for guidance. I look to my teammates for support. I look to my friends and family for accountability. I find strength within myself and how far I have come in these short two years.

6. Where do you usually workout?
Cardio Express in Southington, CT – which is also my full-time job!

7. Do you use any suppliments? If so, what ones (brands, names, etc)
No supplements for me. I feel like whole foods produce the best body’s (as Tiffany and Sean Larson would say). Nothing can replace it.

8. What are your most noticeable results?
I have seen an increase in my lean muscle and a decrease is excess body fat. Although I have a long way to go, I’m so proud of my results. Six pack abs and noticeable biceps are in my future!

9. Has fitness changed your life? If so, how?
Fitness has changed how I see the world. I hope to teach my friends and family that food is fuel. It shouldn’t be an emotional crutch or abused. When you can feed your body without guilt, you find you can live healthier and happier. Nothing is off limits if you practice moderation and healthy choices. This lifestyle is attainable for everyone.

10. What personal fitness goals have you set for yourself?
I’d like to find balance between nutrition, gym time, and social settings during my off-season. If I can keep everything harmony, my next fitness show can be even more enjoyable.

11. Describe your diet.
Whole foods! Lean meats and fresh veggies with every meal. Oatmeal with egg whites for my breakfast. Sweet potatoes when I’m allowed – my personal favorite.

12. What does your workout schedule look like?
Lots of pyramid sets, high rep/low weight days, and I’m in the gym 6-7 days a week. It’s grind time!

13. What do you do for a living?
I work at Cardio Express in Southington, CT full-time M-F 5am-1pm. I also hold a part-time job as a massage therapist at a local day spa.

14. What are your personal non-fitness goals?
I’d like to pay off my car and then start my life debt free! I’m also looking to go back to school for nutrition in the next 5 years.

15. Have you participated in any other sports?
I used to cheer in high school and dance in my high school musicals. I fell off the activity wagon in my early twenties so I’m happy to get back into it again

16. Here you can mention your family/thank you’s.
Thank you to my family and friends for supporting my journey. Thank you to my boyfriend James for being my number one fan! My coaches and teammates deserve so much credit for keeping me on track and in the game. And thank you to my cousin Allyson Genovese, without you I never would have hoped to make it this far – you sparked the fire. Lastly, thank you to those who wanted to see me fail; your negativity pushed me to be even more positive. I might not win, but I have learned my self worth.

17. Do you have any hobbies?
I love to read. Written word is mans greatest achievement and I love to god new stories, adventures, and lives to live through books.

18. What are challenges that you face that may keep you from reaching your fitness goals?
My schedule is jam packed everyday. So it’s hard to make the time for all the things I need to do, but I try my best. Some days I do amazing and some days I don’t, but its all about doing your best everyday. Chocolate also makes it hard to achieve my goal- there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for a piece of dark chocolate!

19. What obstacles have you overcome to be where you are?
I’ve had to overcome my own self doubt to find success. I am my biggest critic. When I was able to stop putting myself down for “all of progress”, I found how much progress I was really making.
