1. What made you want to compete?
I was always inspired by the women in Oxygen and after graduating college I needed a goal other than to be successful in my career at the time. I had competed in pageants since my teen years and the stage was a natural fit. I quickly competed in my first fitness competition and was hooked ever since.
2. What do you do to stay inspired?
Staying inspired is easy for me. My job is to help people reach their full potential and create the person they want to be and getting them on stage to compete; and as I see my clients get fit and healthy, confident and excited about the person they are becoming, I get inspired!
3. What shows have you already been in or plan to be in in the future?
I have been competing since 2005 and some of my greatest accomplishments have been winning the 2007 Ms. Bikini America World title and placing in the top 3 numerous times within the Fitness America & Fitness Universe organization. I also competed in the Fitness category for many years having placed in the top 10 nationally. I’m really excited to start this new challenge and reach new heights with the WBFF!
5. Who do you look to for help now?
After all the years of competing I have learned what works best for my body and am utilizing my own knowledge for my competition prep.
6. Where do you usually workout?
I train and work out of bodyco in Middleton, MA.
7. Do you use any suppliments? If so, what ones (brands, names, etc)
I use Jay Robb egg white protein and Vega Sport performance protein. I no longer use whey products as they and dairy have set me back in the past. I also use Nordic Naturals Omega 3’s
8. What are your most noticeable results?
I have been able to maintain and gain muscle mass in the last year since competing by changing up my workout from a more functional/cardio based routine to one that is heavy and fierce! I’ve committed to myself to lift hard and gain strength to balance my body out. I haven’t had to train to compete in the fitness routine rounds, which I have in the past where I needed lots of endurance. I see the biggest change in my legs and calves, hitting them 2x a week heavy and calves on alternate days 3 times a week is working great for me!
9. Has fitness changed your life? If so, how?
Fitness has most definitely made my life! I graduated with a B.S. in Public Relations and was successful in my career for a while straight out of college, but quickly learned my passion was fitness. I changed careers after I started competing and years later turned into a successful trainer. I now own Body Ambition Fitness & Nutrition (www.bodyambition.com) and have my own competitive fitness team of athletes that is growing strong!
10. What personal fitness goals have you set for yourself?
My personal goals this year were to change my physique to the best it’s ever been and compete in the WBFF and earn my pro card status! I’d like to then reach the Pro stage in 2013 with an even better package and continue to inspire others to reach their fitness goals and take on the challenge of hitting the stage!
11. Describe your diet.
I lead a balanced lifestyle year round consisting of higher protein and veggies and some starches, fruit and good fats. The only thing I never have in my diet is dairy, as I’ve learned through the years it doesn’t benefit me at all. When in competition prep I keep in a bit cleaner and consistent and cut out any treats I may have allowed myself before. I also like to utilize high, med and low days in conjunction with my workouts.
12. What does your workout schedule look like?
I train hard 6 days a week and take 1 full day rest. My workouts consist of heavy lifts which rotate regularly but I always do legs 2x per week and calves and abs 3 times per week in conjunction with my other body part splits. When not leaning out for a show I don’t do any cardio and when cutting for a competition I do 30-45 mins 3-6 days a week depending on how I’m leaning out. I don’t do more because I know I loose muscle mass quickly as I have learned from experience.
13. What do you do for a living?
I am a certified personal trainer and nutritional coach, owner of Body Ambition Fitness & Nutrition www.bodyambition.com and coach women and men for the competitive fitness stage!
14. What are your personal non-fitness goals?
I would love to continue to grow my business and also publish my newest cookbook! I have had two e-cookbooks and the 3rd is in the works for publishing! I’d also love to travel a bit more in the next 5 years and visit my boyfriend’s family in Portugal.
15. Have you participated in any other sports?
Only in High School, I competed in soccer, basketball and dabbled in spring track. Quickly learning I wasn’t the best at any of them, however I was very dedicated to trying my hardest which didn’t go un-recognized by coaches. I believe that dedication and tenacity lead me to where I am today!
16. Here you can mention your family/thank you’s.
I have to start by thanking my boyrfriend, Steve, of 6+ years. He’s been supporting me in this sport since the near beginning and has seen me go through it all, never complaining (ok maybe a few times that we only got vacation from fitness related events haha), and always pushing me to be better in all aspects!
I’d also love to thank my family and friends to standing by me through all my goals and craziness this fitness journey has lead me on thus far.

17. Do you have any hobbies?
Besides everything fitness I am an avid dog lover, and proud mama of an 8 yr old Boston Terrier, Chino, and a 3 year old Pitbull, Luchi. I also have a passion for charity work, having done numerous events for the MSPCA and recently doing the 60 Mile Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-day with my aunt a recent survivor
19. What obstacles have you overcome to be where you are?
I don’t like to look at things as obstacles, as I just look at that as something negative. I like to look at them as experiences that lead me to where I am today and I am grateful!
